Design + Innovation M.S. Open House event at the Makerspace Lab

In partnership with the UW Division of Continuing Studies, Magnet is invited to an Open House at the Makers Lab!

The Design + Innovation M.S. is a collaborative program is an interdisciplinary degree combining science, economics, creativity and innovation.

The Makerspace is the student-run, rapid prototyping facility that is part of the Grainger Engineering Design Innovation Lab. The facilities include 12,000 ft^2 of shop and flex space with a wide range of rapid prototyping equipment. They strive to empower students and create a community immersed in emerging technologies and focused on creating innovative products.

It is a collaboration between the College of Engineering, School of Human Ecology, School of Business, the Art Department within the School of Education, and the Information School in the College of Letters and Science. The degree prepares students to solve “wicked problems” by providing them with a robust set of design thinking strategies and tools from multiple perspectives (social science, business, engineering, art, user experience, social impact, etc.), as well as the opportunity to practice these techniques with hands-on, real-world projects. Graduates will be equipped to work across disciplines and innovate in their respective field.
